Wikipedia Definition of a Guitar Tech:
A guitar technician (or 'guitar tech') is a crew person with a specialized skill set (like many crew people must have these days). However, unlike many crew members, a guitar technician (guitar tech or tech for short), interacts directly with the artist/musician they are working for.
The guitar tech is responsible for everything related to the equipment used by the musician they are working for. The tech typically does everything except play the instrument during the live show and run the effects, although sometimes the tech will run the effects and pedals for the guitarist during the show.
Duties include, but are not limited to:,
-Setup and stringing of all guitars, pedals, cables, amplifiers, cabinets, cases, picks, straps, etc., -
-Tuning, fetching towels & drinks etc. and dealing with any issues during the show.
-Maintenance of all guitar equipment.
