I would have to say go to CRAS (Conservatory in Tempe) you will be happier with the choice. I would have done the Full Sail but after looking into that school you wont get very far from that education. I am attending CRAS now and hands down awesom...

Eric, You have gotten quite a bit of advice, some good, and some maybe not so much! I have been doing this for 35 years now, and I can tell you a few things that are true; 1) It is sometimes difficult to explain to parents just what this job is a...

Hey man.. I graduated from CRAS in June 08. If you want to be in the audio industry, know that it is almost impossible and you won;t have a family and you'll pretty much be sacrificing all of your time and money,(if you make any) just to get your ...

Hey Eric, I had a great time at CRAS. The instructors there really know the material, and the school is open 24/7 so you can sit in on sessions anytime you want. Also if you are there late at night(3AM or later) sometimes they get no shows for a ...

Just getting some information on the school, would like to hear other peoples' opinions on this. I know i heard a lot of people replying back to me about this school, over Fullsail. They also have a 3 month internship that is mandatory that Fullsa...

Well, as others have said, go to work for a local production company as an intern/gopher and eventually move up in the world. I personally went to for a 4 year degree in Technical theatre at a small college and dropped out after two years. They ha...

Comments About Me:
Started doing sound since the 5th grade. Doing anything from open mic nights to mid-small venues. I'm fairly knowledgeable in audio engineering; mics, sound boards, signal processors, etc... I am deciding weahter or not to attend Full Sail University for Sho Pro/Touring. Getting a lot of responses from techs on this website and has helped me out a lot of making some important decisions.

Go major in Theater Tech and minor in marketing, or biz or EE or something that will actually make you a well rounded worker. It will pay off huge dividends.

Eric,

Think about this for a minute!!! My best friend is an attorney in Chicago. He went all the way through LAW SCHOOL at expensive private schools. His student loan debt is in the 70's. Hmmm, do you want a Bachelors of nothing from a "school" that has flooded the market with idiots (so you will have your name attached to them) or do you want to be a lawyer or a doctor?

I don't want to be either a doc or a lawyer, but my point is that you will be getting ripped off like never before if you go through with this. Get a legit degree from a legit school and get a real job. You will save tens of thousands of $ too. THINK ABOUT IT! Full Sail is very good at sales, and very poor at education. Period. Do you want to be sold, or do you want to be educated?

Eric,

Its true you could make less than 50k a year. But then you could be flipping burgers at McDonalds or In&Out too so .......

It may take you a while to get over the 50k hump but when you do it will be highly rewarding. And quite frankly no one enters this business because of the prospect of making killer money. We enter because of the life experiences you will get no where else in any other job. if mony is your motivating factor it is NOT the career for you.

However once you do reach that milestone the money becomes quite handsome.
