Comments About Me:
I am a VERY hard worker and a fast learner. I am very eager to keep gaining experience in the field. There is no task to small or too big that I cannot handle.
yo bro, I graduated from Columbia in 07. If you haven't yet, you have to get down and visit Jack Alexander. This year, they've gotten the go ahead to start bringing digital consoles through. Even if you aren't taking any live classes, look up the schedules and go sit in on them. Him and Jim Nudd have a lot of invaluable information to share. They also have a bootcamp through the summer with all the major live subjects. The only thing you won't learn from Columbia are rigging and power. It seems like you're getting out and humping gear so you have the work ethic part. Just keep working hard, don't talk shit, keep your eyes and ears open for every piece of info you can get and you'll be alright. I know some fs guys and I don't think you're going to get much more out of there. I'd say just switch you're major to live reinforcement. There is so much to learn about so many aspects of production that you will get part from school, part from the field, and part from making mistakes. The other forum posts are right, most people could care less where you went to school, the only thing that holds anyone back is thinking they're the shit. Those people just tend to fuck up harder than the rest. I've worked my ass off and although I came of school at the worst possible time economy-wise and have loans up the ass, I've still managed to piece together a freelance existence in the economy ravaged Las Vegas. If you haven't, check out Sound Investment, they are a good company to do stagehand work for. I could go on, but if you need advice or info, feel free to give me a ring. 219-629-2872. yes, I still have a midwest phone number. Also, check out backstagejobs.com. I'll have to give you some other jobs sites, because I was seeing a lot of gigs pop up in the Chicagoland recently. peace
Somewhere for the very few Irish techs on roadiejobs.com to get together and have a bit of craic and drink Guiness before going back to our straw houses..... Hmm, we will let them keep thinking that!
